CoolHands
OK I need to replace the strater motor in 200 tdi defender. Reading about the poor quality ones on sale from paddocks etc I tried to source a Valeo or Bosch one. Rimmer bros appear to list two motors. Both are Part Number NAD500210 but one has an additional 'P' after the part number (the cheaper one does). One is very expensive: £268 http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/cgi-bin/rimmer...nder/electrical and one for £96.82 http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/cgi-bin/rimmer...rtID=NAD500210P but i can't see what the difference is? They dont say what make they are etc. Anyone know where I can get a Valeo one online, or between Didcot and West London? thanks ps also how long (timewise) would you genuinely allow to change a starter motor? tonka
i changed mine a short while ago and it was a lot easier than i thought. it only took about an hour or so but there are a few bolts/nuts that are difficult to get to, and make sure you have some exhauts sealent with you to fill the gaps you are going to make. dennisthemennis.co.uk
I used the Bosch one and it is a perfect fit, only they forgot to take the exchange one! Does anyone know is it worth having the old one overhauled?
Les Henson
It depends on what's wrong with it. Solenoids can be bought and replaced by yourself, but a full rebuild requires brushes, bushes, regulator/rectifier, which may be hard to get hold of. I have several starter motors here that could be repaired if I could get the bits. Les.
