Marco
Hi, I need to replace the horn(s) on my Defender for the upcoming MOT. Right now I've fitted the Paddocks/Britpart ones (high and low) http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/DEFENDER/E...o_WA159806.html but those did not last. I do also see listed the YEB101220 type for the XA onwards Defender. It's twice the price and I wonder if that one is going to be any better? http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/DEFENDER/E...m_XA159807.html And off course advice on alternative ones welcome :-) Cheers Marco
BogMonster
No - they are just as cr&p! The only difference is that on the later horns there is a two pin plug to plug the horn in, rather than the twin spade connectors on the early type horn. Excessive use of horn and/or anything resembling water still brings them to a strangled squawk. I once blew both horns on a brand new vehicle when I peeped at somebody in the way at work, and that was before it was even delivered, so they lasted about 2 seconds on that one I think the old "disc" type horns tend to last longer but they make it sound like a Japanese tin can so no good to me A set of Kong horns would be quite cool but a bit more expensive B)

Marco
Thanks guys! I've just ordered some suffix G 'Klaxon' horns at the Allmakes site, hopefully those are a bit better. Price is about the same as the BP ones though... Cheers Marco
yellow
Get a Stebel Nautical horn. Works fine on my BMW 1200GSA, and should give you at least 134dB of noise... 'cheap' and people definitely hear you coming...

Marco
Did you try and give them abit of a tune? I've tried to reincarnate them with WD40 at an earlier stage. Get a Stebel Nautical horn. Yep that's an interesting horn, you can test all horns at their website Cheers Marco
