Juz
Right, so the problem definitely was the fuel stop solenoid. I bought a new one but it doesn't fit quite right. Fully tightened, the plunger cannot move enough to allow any fuel to pass - the engine does not start. Loosened of a couple of turns, the engine starts and stops ok, but doesn't allow enough fuel to flow to rev properly. Loosened another couple of turns, the engine starts, stops and runs properly, but diesel leaks from around the solenoid. BUGGER!!!! Can I fix this by putting PTFE tape around the threads or am I cocking something up here? Juz

bow
please, do not use ptfe tape or paste, it does not react well to diesel or petrol, once the ptfe breaks down due to the fuel it can cause major problems with your fuel system, once had some socalled fitter do this on an old fork truck , and it buggered the pump, try and get the propper switch, a bodge will only come back and haunt you, ATB, BOW.. Les Henson
There should be a sealing washer with the switch. If it's there, just add another one. Les.
Juz
So, PTFE tape is a NO-NO. Option 1 then is a thicker O-ring. If that fails is there another type of tape that I could use to seal the threads? Juz

Steve Warman
Hi Juz, Give Dingocrofts a call in downley. They've always managed to source parts for me before at a reasonable price and speed. Steve

Steve They've got a part but it's not the Bosch. Maybe I just need to try it though. Juz
Les Henson
Fuel cut-off switches are a commonly available part from most good motor factors - you shouldn't have any problems with getting one. Bosch/Intermotor/NipponDenso/etc are popular makes. Les.
