CJRH
Hi, I’ve got a Disco 200tdi engine to go in my series 2a, what bolts are used for the pressure plate to flywheel? I think they are m8, can I just use 8.8 strengh and what washers are used? Flat, star or split washers? Cheers, Chris
Les Henson
No washers, but it wouldn't hurt if used them. They are M8 coarse thread, and about 15mm long. I suspect they would be hi-tensile, so 8.8 might be ok. Les.
CJRH
Thanks Les, what stops the bolts from working loose? Chris
JimAttrill
I have just taken the clutch off a Series III diesel and there were spring washers under each bolt. I remember thinking that each bolt must be the same and have a washer to keep the balance as good as possible.
Milemarker Type S
Spring washers on mine- no idea if standard or not but not caused any problems.
CJRH
Thanks for the info, spring washers sound like a good idea! Cheers, Chris
dave88sw
The torque setting is 25lbft fyi. This seemed very loose to me, so ive done mine to around 30, suppose this ought to be tight enough because they shouldnt work loose, but i wanted to be on the safe side. They are standard M8's and i reckon 8.8 ought to be ok, spring washers under mine too.
