Defender swivel's - how much one shot do they take?

Recommended Posts

Just renewed my front disks & some of the one shot leaked out when i slacked off the top swivel pin to release the caliper.

My local specialist didn't have the sachet -so he sold my missus a 1 litre bottle - anyone know how much the swivels take? - or should they be full?

Cheers

Darren

Sorry to hijack the thread but how do you get the one shot into the swivel?

I have two plugs on my swivel. a drain and level. No fill plug, and when I try to squeeze the grease in it just squirts out all over the road, even with the 'nozzle' stuffed as far in as possible.

thanks.

As an owner of an 'old' Defender (1995) which has three plugs, filler, level and drain, I would say that it is better to keep on using the EP90 if you can. The later swivels do not have any way to check if water has got in there, and if water is in the swivel the only way to remove it is to take the whole thing apart. At least with my swivels I can drain the oil out. We use Shell CS00 grease for swivels at the garage but I still stick to EP90. After all, if grease is so good, how come we do not fill our gearboxes with it?
