oggie27_3
so i was going to change the axle oil in my disco and noticed the filler plug is the same as the rubbish plastic bleed plugs off older landrovers! now having previous experience of these shearing what are my options for replacment? a brass bleed plug? or will the filler plug off disco 1/defender fit the hole? or the ones fitted to a wolf axle? can get these from work! cheers jon
JimAttrill
We use the same brass plugs in the Disco II axles as used on radiators and Tdi thermostat housings. You can buy 1/4" NPT brass 'stop ends' very cheap from most plumbing shops. The best (and most expensive) brass plugs look like the plastic plugs, complete with shoulder and O-ring. Britpart sell them.
jules
I also use the older style brass rad caps on my D2 axles.

teabag
1/2 inch BSP brass plug fits the D1 rad £1.28 from B&Q plus an O ring or fibre washer.
