Sam of Sweden
Hi there I've got a disco chassis with a short steering damper at the rear of the front axel, and a 110 defender chassis with a long damper at the front of the axel. Why, when I ordered a defender steering damper did I get a short damper I could only find one size on-line???? I've now got a RTC4472 advertised to fit both 90 and 110 from 1983 but guess what, its a shorty!!! Any suggestions
BogMonster
All Defenders use the same damper AFAIK but due to the location it may well be a different length to a Discovery one so there shouldn't be any such thing as a "short damper" The ends are different between the two; one has an eye on one end and a pin on the other, and the other type has two pins. western
Defender uses RTC4472 on all 90/110/130 vehicles Discovery 1 uses STC786 which is a totally different design to the Defender damper.
cipx2
You can see the difference between the Defender and the Discovery steering dampers here: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=38660 (I've just added the lengths to this other thread)
Sam of Sweden
Fair enough, I wasn't pulling the damper out to the right size.....I feel like a right plonker!!!!
