BogMonster
I am pretty sure a 300 version of the R380 will bolt straight onto a 200 its just the bellhousing is too long for the gearbox mounts to match up. There is a special short-bellhousing version of the R380, used in a handful of very late build special order 2.5 naturally aspirated vehicles built in the 1995 model year, which will go straight in and would be by far the best solution - if you can find one! Also please be aware that a "short stick" R380 is a Discovery version (short gearstick, vs long stick for a Defender) it doesn't mean the input shaft is shorter - it'll be no good in your Defender as you will end up with the gear lever coming up through the middle seat somewhere
