timmymac
how do you tell the differance between a 3.9 and a 3.5 ecu and also the differance between hotwire and flapper cheers
Dave W
Do you just have the ECU ? The simplest way of telling a Hotwire ECU from a flapper ECU is the colour, normally flapper ECUs are bare metal, hotwire ECUs are painted black. The hotwire will also normally have a part number of 14CUX on it somewhere.
Ally V8
14CUX is alot smaller than 4CU,the 4CU is about 10x6x2" and CUX is more like 7x7x 1.1/2" - and usually works.

patch1
Dose anyone know if the 14CUX was fitted to any other engine. As far as I understand it the flapper system was a BOSCH setup and fitted to lots of other engines like porsche 944.

The flapper and 4cu ecu were used on landrover 3.5s, Rover 3.5s (SD1), TVR and Morgan. Steve
