mr_mcp Posted July 7, 2009 Share Posted July 7, 2009 Hi all, I'm new here and now a proud owner of a 300Tdi Defender 90 I'm intending to fit an alarm shortly and wondered if anyone had any tips with regards to concealing the wires, or doing anything to make it harder for would-be theives to deactivate etc.. I've searched through previous posts to look for solutions and couldn't find any, apologies if this has already been discussed in the past. Cheers, mr_mcp P.S. western Posted July 7, 2009 Share Posted July 7, 2009 we tend not to talk about alarm wiring too much, simply because this is a forum that any member of the public can read, we don't like to give details of where/how any alarm wiring is concealed, I'm sure you can understand the reason, it's a attmpt to help our member keep hold of thier well loved vehicles. simply make it as difficult as possible to get to the alarm control unit & disguise the wires if possible. ant CAT 1 alam will help you keep your vehicle safe from unwanted wrong doers. However, they can also be the least reliable, and tend to annoy poeple frequently, so dont get used. A simple switch in a fuel system can be just as effective, and far simpler. VWP have a range of suitable units, from electrcial and manual fuel shut-off taps, and also battery isolators which require a key to operate them, rather than the old fashinoned plastic keys - incidentally, more and more 'specialist' thieves are carrying these now, as they are all the same, you can buy spares from almost anywhere no questions asked, and a lot of poeple fit them!
