lansalot
Guys, having bought/tried and failed with a few now (I think I have a plug-spanner collection second to none!), can someone please supply me with an online-reference to a plug spanner I can order without leaving my seat, that will fit my Rover V8 3.5 and 3.9 (presume they're the same). No measurements please, I know the dimensions - just can't find the bloody thing !!! Need a "buy it now" button, somewhere Thanks
Aragorn
I just used the standard 14mm spark plug socket that came with my halfords pro kit, and didnt really notice any particular tight spots? Whats the problem?
Boothy
Oh I think you'll start a major debate here, I think it's fair to say they all don't fit, all I do is go as far as I can until it goes tight, lift up and try again 2 or 3 times until your sure its the plug tight and not the socket stuck in the casting. I await a good answer here.
Aragorn
Interesting, either that means the halfords one is a decent fit, or i just didnt notice. I certainly dont remember the socket binding up on the cylinder head casting.
Bowie69
Often a 3/8" drive ratchet plug socket will be better, just get a thinwall one and you're fine -My Halfords pro set works fine, even on 1/2", but then I have a magnetic 3/8" plug socket, so use that most of the time
Aragorn
the plug sockets in my pro-kit are both 3/8" drive...
Les Henson
3/8 or 1/2 inch on a wobble bar works for me on any motor. Les.
steve_d
Never had a problem, just pick up the nearest plug socket and a selection of bars and away we go. Steve
CLUNYKNOX
Hi i would agree that 3/8 plug socket usual have a thiner side wall what i did was take the bench grinder to a 1/2" socket it worked fine for me

lansalot
Argh. I had hoped it would all be so easy.. Binding up on the cylinder head is my problem. Looks like the 14mm I wasted my money on yesterday has a date with the grinder then ! A
