Anglo-Frenchman
Hi Folks, Been a while since I've been here. Moved to NZ end of last year and been off the Rover scene while stuck in a Subaru. Looking to buy a Disco again and would appreciate some help. The company car park where I work has a height restriction of 1.9m. Can I get a standard Disco under the bar without leaving paintwork or metal behind? cipx2
All Discovery models with/without roof rails are over 1.9m (I think 200tdi is the smallest at 1918 mm)
Anglo-Frenchman
Thanks. That's a shame.
landyliam
maybe try smaller tyres, or a few sandbags in the back or even, and i can't believe i'm suggesting this, lowering springs!!!!
Anglo-Frenchman
Thanks for th advice. Can someone give me the standard height measurements please? Thanks
teabag
The sticker on my sunvisor says 1968mm with roof bars 1928mm without. I have been under a 2m car park barrer a few times with out problems.
cipx2
Same as Anglo-French-NewZealander-man you didn't say for which Disco. 1, 2, 3, 4? I do know but maybe he doesn't. Disco 1.1 (a.k.a 200 series): 1918 mm tdi, 1928 mm V8 Disco 1.2 (aka 300 series) without roof rails: 1914 mm according to workshop manual, 1928 mm acc to owners manual Disco 2: 1940 mm no roof rails etc. If you're interested in D3/4 (actually for all the versions except 200 series) you can find the data in the owners manuals available on LR website. Direct link: http://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com The values are guidelines anyway. The actual value depends on engine, accessories, version, suspension type (you might get away with air suspension and deflate it to get under 1.9 m), tyres etc etc.
discomikey
sorry, a disco 300tdi (according to RAVE) is 1914mm, you could always sneakily "adjust the barrier by removing a link in the chain either side holding the bar thing up. mikey
Anglo-Frenchman
Thanks. Thats really interesting guys. Need to change my ID - too many nationalities to list now. I'm hoping to get a Disco 2 circa 2002 so it looks as though I may have a problem. I'll need to measure opening exactly because these things are often not that accurate. landyliam
get the measuring tape out and check the car park, there's bound to be a bit of leeway but it would be a good excuse for front and rear winches !
