Retroanaconda
Hello all, I have mounted my NATO hitch as per this link: http://www.retroanaconda.com/landrover/?p=52 Now, with a piece of 12mm steel behind there I very much doubt it is going to pull through, but I have noticed it's nigh-on impossible to do the bolts up properly as the crossmember is just crushing inwards. My question is, should there be crush tubes in there for the NATO hitch holes? Many thanks
mike4444244
Yup there should be crush tubes or more likely a '#' shaped noughts and crosses grid inside, if you have a carp aftermarket xmember these wont be there and will lead to it distorting, also I think technically you are advised to fit the nato hitch with 2 sets of nuts... Retroanaconda
Bugger, this isn't the first issue that I've had with this crossmember. Damn cheapo previous owner ¬_¬ How do you mean two sets of nuts? The second set acting as locknuts?
BogMonster
Yes I used to just use Nylocs though
Retroanaconda
Yeah, well that's what I've done. As for the crush tubes, well I'll have to try and get some added at some point. It'll have to do as it for now though. Thanks all.
