Juz
Help! The Devil used to start first turn of the key, within a second. Since we changed the pump, it now takes ages to start, turning over for 15-30 seconds before starting. And for the first 20-30 seconds the engine runs like it's starved of fuel, wont rev up etc In this weather, it's just putting strain on the battery. Once started for 30 seconds, you can turn off and restart again immediately. I'm thinking that maybe air is getting into the fuel system or that fuel is draining back somehow and the engine is needing to prime each time it's been left for a while (but haven't checked this yet). Any ideas? Juz

Injection pump. Filter is 3 months old - fine before poump change, this started immediatley after the change. Not sure about the connections, other than not seeing a puddle of diesel under the truck. reb78
Did you set it up properly when replacing it making sure the timing etc was correct? Did you change the timing belt at the same time as if not, the whole thing could be out as the belt would have been loose inside the casing once the pump was removed. Belt was changed at the same time. As far as I know it was set up ok. Once started, runs like a dream. Juz
LandyManLuke
Run it off a (clean) jam jar of (clean) diesel on the wing, straight in to the injection pump. WIll give you a good idea of whether the problem is high or low pressure, lift pump, etc etc. If all is ok with the first test, I'd get the fuel filter in the circuit pronto, both to test the connections on it, and to get filtered fuel. gaz0203
did you remove the pump by taking the pulley off the 3 pins or the one big one on the front?

Juz by removing the 3 small hex head bolts ? not the larger central FIP shaft bolt.
