DiscoHere
Hi all Can anyone tell me if it is safe to drive for extended periods (snow and ice) with the diff lock engaged? Hugh
First_Fleet
So long as you can get some wheel slip (shouldn't be hard ) you should be ok otherwise you can get windup which can bugger up the drive train. Slippage allows the train to stay free.
BogMonster
Yes - cornering on non-slippery surfaces is what you need to avoid, so best pop it out of difflock before going around a salted roundabout
Naks
Can anyone tell me if it is safe to drive for extended periods (snow and ice) with the diff lock engaged? As soon as you go off the black stuff, CDL should be engaged. I've driven over 1000kms over 2 days in Namibia with the CDL engaged, sometimes at speeds of up to 110kmh with no issues.
