New fat tyres rub on the chassis

Recommended Posts

Hi

Hope someone can help, I bought some new (used ) 245 tyres and discovery wheels off ebay, as I got stuck in dry sand launching my boat, anyway on full lock they catch on the chassis at the rear of the tyre, I am sure I read somewhere that you can adjust the lock stops to prevent this fouling, anyone know how to do it and where the lock stop is.

cheers

john

Jack the front end off the ground, turn the steering on full lock in one direction, then unscrew the lockstop until the rear edge of the opposite tyre is not less than 3/4" from the chassis rail. Turn the steering the opposite way, then adjust the stop on the opposite side until the wheel on the opposite side is the same distance away from the chassis rail.

Lock stop is a large 19mm head M12 bolt/locking nut on each swivel housing. -

Disco front hub picture, but it's pretty-much the same thing.

Big bolt at the top of the picture.
