Classicturbo
Hi Wonder if there are any more Janspeed Turbo range Rovers out there, I have a single turbo 3.5 from 1989. Anyone know about tuning these beasts?
willfromsussex
Didn't know they did those. Is it carb or EFI? How does it go?

Range Rover Blues
A guy in Chesterfield has one but I never saw it running. Isn't most of the conversion bolt-on other than the internals (obviously).
steve b
The one I had was a fairly large turbo with a single 2" HIF SU carb , it was a bit all or nothing iirc , which only helped to increase the number of diffs detonated offroad with SAT's on . I could easily get it down to 10mpg on the road but on average it was much the same as a twin Stromberg'd NA RRC. I did once get nearly 40mpg one summer Sunday greenlaning with 3 Series 1's with 2litre F head engines.. ..it never went into boost all day I should imagine the twin turbo set up is much more tractable. cheers Steveb
Clive
I believe that some of the police Range Rovers in the late 70s used a twin turbo set up, which I believe were installed by Janspeed. These gave a better response as they were smaller turbos. There are still one or two of these vehicles around!

Classicturbo
Hi All This was for sale on Ebay about 6 months ago, I purchased it thinking it was owner modified to find that it was an origional Janspeed single turbo on a 3.5 efi engine, the history is unknown but I believe that it has detonated diffs, transfer case and engine/s? The engine was eventually replaced with a 3.9 with less compression. It is quite docile around town but give it some welly and hold on the boost hits like an express train and if you're not ready its out of control. I purchased it to tow a caravan and boat and the summer towing a almost without any reliability problems, not bad. I have had several Classics but this is the most quirky and I have decided to restore it. I would be interetsed in any other people that have turbo experience, I need to tune it and change the exhaust and decide what to do with the top mount intercooler.
