centre diff

hi there.

does anybody know how to check to see if centre diff is working properly.diff light not wired up.but i need to check to see if it is working correctly first.if its not doing what its supposed to how difficult is it to fix.

Put a jack under one axle, lift one wheel off the ground.

Diff lock out = wheel spinning

Diff lock in = truck tries to drive off the jack.

Check the wires on the top of the switch (front/top face of the box) they can get broken quite easily.

Or a safer option:

Diff lock out = wheel spins by hand

Diff lock in = wheel doesn't spin by hand

The LT230 is not a complex beastie to have apart, this thread shows everything you need. The only if it's not working is if there's actual damage inside - broken bits of metal whirling round is generally bad news for gears & shafts & bearings, and that would make it a bigger job. If it's really damaged inside, a good 2nd hand unit shouldn't be more than £200, more like £100.
