andrewd
I know this is a silly question but my hands are getting very sore trying to get the speedo cable out of the speedometer. Haynes just says "disconnect the speedometer cable" - YES BUT HOW? It must be easy, but I can't see how.
Dads Toy
I had the same problem until I got annoyed and levered it off with a screwdriver Then you see it's only held in by the plastic collar at the end of the cable which clips over the ridge on the speedo head. If you can pull hard enough - yeh where it is makes that difficult, it does just come off. Malcolm
andrewd
Ah ok, thanks Malcolm. I'll give that a go in the morning. I hadn't quite got to the levering it off with a crowbar stage :-) Thanks, Andy
western
you need to squeeze the little lever inwards toward the cable & pull at the same time, just levering it off will wreck it.
andrewd
Sorry, a bit slow on the uptake. Finally understood what you mean. The collar closest to the speedo needs to be squeezed. There are two pieces further away from the speedo which look like they should be squeezed :-) but they don't do anything. Finally got the cable off. Thanks for the help Western. western
happy to help, at least the cable can be refitted without having to buy a new one.
