zim
Morning, I'm getting spares ready for a challenge this weekend and wondering if a p38 starter motor will fit onto the older style v8 ? (4.2 with a dizzy) They look awfully similar, but i don't fancy stripping my p38 just to find out Cheers Gordon
Bowie69
Pretty sure they will, for example I have an RRC starter fitted to my 4.0 P38 engine using an RRC HP22 box and starter ring gear etc
Range Rover Blues
AFAIK the ring gears are the same and I think my serpentine RRC has the later starter on it, the solenoid is 90degrees out compared to my older RRC.
Hybrid_From_Hell
Yes All RR Late smaller type Starter are the same 3.5 3.9 4.2 4.6 P38 The ones that are different are the much much bigger lucas type, which were on early stuff. If its the small type they are all the same Car ones have the soleniod in a different position which causes issues with props Nige
zim
Cheers... Yes, it's the small one i currently have. The big ones are awkward / heavy to fit. G
