V8defender90
Hi, I have some 8j rims and was wondering if i fitted 235/85 to them what would i expect? ie: height difference from a 7j rim, can it be done safely? regards Matt.
SPendrey
Isn't the 7/8J the width of the rim? In which case you'd see no appreciable height different I suspect? Happy to be proven wrong though.
Bowie69
Well the rim won't pinch the tyre as much, so the width of the rim does affect the overall height of a rim/tyre combination. However..... you won't notice any difference in all honesty, and I think 235 tyres are better on 7" rims.
martifers
With a 235 on an 8J you wont be left with much tyre wall either side of the rim - just over 16mm! I personally wouldn't fit 235's on an 8'' rim.
scube
Agree more likely to pull off under cornering.
Jimbo_C
Afternoon I just checked the ETRTO
Jimbo_C
Afternoon I just checked the ETRTO tyre standards and design manual and they do not recommend fitting this tyre to a rim this wide. They don't specify it above 7.5J. There is my/ their two pence worth. Jim
