reb78 Posted October 5, 2011 Share Posted October 5, 2011 I have a loose dipstick tube on my defender 200tdi. It has about half an inch of up down movement. I cant tighten the bolt to the block any further, so i guess something has loosened beneath that bolt. Is there an olive on the tube and can that be replaced/moved or will it need a new tube as well as olive since what is there is loose? I'm trying to elimintate an oil leak and i think it is coming from the tube - its not excessive, but it is noticeable. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

western Posted October 5, 2011 Share Posted October 5, 2011 you'll need something tapered , I used my long nose pliers to make the tube wider so the olive stayed in the correct place, it should be possible to see he olives original position on the tube, just make sure the nut is on the tube & facing the correct way.
