Snagger
Hi folks. One for electrical experts: I have just replaced the battery on a 300Tdi. The old battery died with failed cells. I have just checked the charging voltage and it read 14.1V at idle and 14.2V at 1500rpm. I'm not sure how accurate the voltmeter is (it's a Maplin multimeter), but isn't this a bit high? I was expecting 13.4-13.8V - will the new battery be damaged by the high voltage, or is it within reasonable margins?
ejparrott
my 200 puts out about 13.9 on idle, and about 14.2 at around 1500 so its the same as mine
Puffernutter
I would have said that those figures aren't unreasonable. Cheers Peter
davyd8899
can shed some light on this as i ad electrical issues that were eventually located to the alternator just bought a new alternator as mine had failed the new 1 is purring out 14V at idle and 14.7V at 1500rpm so i would say those figures appear normal
