miketomcat
Firstly its a 200tdi disco lump with a defender turbo etc the noise is a pinking sound (high pitch metalic rattling) it only seems to happen from cold and goes as it warms up. It is engine speed related but only under load if you ease up on the throttle it goes. Tappets have been checked and I do have an exhaust blow at the first joint after the manifold and it sounds drivers side but may not be. Any thoughts to check out? TSD
Lift pump sticking/struggling maybe? Maybe vacuum pump, but not sure why that would be load related?
miketomcat
Trouble is I can't replicate it on the drive and Mr plod gets upset if you drive down the road with the bonnet off and someone stupid enough sorry sat there listening. Might check the lift pump as I have a spare one somewhere. Mike

miketomcat
I've no idea of the condition of the injectors as the truck has done nearly 200k but is on at least It's second engine and I'll bet that was second hand as it's a disco timing chest.
