Briarston
Hi all Fitted the much recommended Disco drop arm etc. to my "90" a couple of weeks ago, and am pretty pleased with the result. I found that the damper self extended when disconnected (gas filled?) but didn't think too much of it. On the MOT. test yesterday, operating the steering for the tester while the front wheels were raised, I found that the steering (engine not running) was noticably lighter when turning RH down - damper extending - than when turning the wheels the other way. Is this normal, or the wrong damper fitted(by previous owner). Can't really feel any difference when driving, but any advice/comments would be appreciated. Something else to worry about, or not? nickwilliams
It's normal for a gas damper. Paddocks told me they have stopped selling deCarbon steering damper because people complained about it. I have one fitted (bought from LR Series, IIRC) and have no problems with it. There are (much) more important things to worry about! Nick. M&S
That might explain my mates steering. He thought it was his steering box. Will pass this on to him. Cheers!
