tim_roberts
Check the turbo hoses (assuming it's a diesel)
FridgeFreezer
What tim said. Assuming it's a TD4, this would typically be a split turbo hose (full sets of silicone hoses on eBay for cheap) or a split/chafed vacuum hose between the turbo actuator valve and the brake vacuum pipe/reservoir - 6mm push-fit nylon pneumatic hose replaces that quite nicely. carnival
Thanks to all, it turned out to be a split turbo hose, replaced by a friend it took about 15 mins. going well again now. It is a 02 td4 freelander by the way.
