Plastic sheet advice needed for packing/gaskets/shims

Hi people,

I'm doing some pre door instalment planning for my LR90, so was looking at getting some of the profiled door shims you get that fit the hinges... to my shock and horror the wee plastic bits cost over a pound each!!! which on principle I'm objecting to spending that much on a sliver of plastic! so i want to make some up myself.

So has anyone got an pearls of wisdom of what type of plastic sheet I should be looking for... I've searched fleebay but its not turned up anything decidedly obvious to buy... I had in my head that 1mm thick Polyurethane would do... but I little unsure...

Anyone suggest a suitable non compressible plastic I could use as a shim material..?

Cheers

Mav

Perspex too brittle, couldn't find any black Nylon, will look into the other two. minimum number I'll need is 8, and from my last door alignment attempts, just 1 hinge needed 6... so if I'm haveing a really bad day, (which I am predicting) I will need 16(ish)...
