Where can I wire a work lamp?

As above! Been given one that works with no diagrams or anything just about 100mm of cable out of them but I can extend that etc just not sure what to wire it to?

fit it where you like, most people put it by the back door, it will need a fused live from somewhere positive/battery, via a relay, you then need a fused switch supply to the relay.

Or if you are only using a low power bulb and its one with a built in switch then you just need a fused supply from the battery, you can earth back through the body

Would I get everything I need from halfords or similar? Where is best place to get the 12v from directly from battery or?

Direct from the battery is probably easiest but you must put an in line fuse holder as close as you can to the pos terminal and it goes without saying that the fuse must be of a lower rating than the cable.

Depending what year it is you may have a permanent live spare into the right rear light box. It's a purple wire for trailer accessories.

If you get a wiring diagram for your model and also do a google search for worklight wiring it'll give you a starting point.
