Clutch issues ..

Recommended Posts

I was driving down the road when I could no longer press in the clutch lever . the lever seems really jammed . an lost ability to use the clutch . I figure its the master cylinder or the slave cylinder but there was no trace of leaking oil . Any thoughts?

TDI? They sometimes punch a hole in the clutch fork, and your symptoms are the usual outcome.

Beat me to it. A very common failure on Tdis - the fork is astonishingly badly made, a perfect example of cost-engineering: have a look at a SIII fork in comparison!

Whats weird is the V8 retained the series cast fork, and they switched back to the cast fork on the TD5 (still with the series3 part number too!)

I wonder if the cast fork can be swapped in on a TDI?

I should be finding this out very shortly! About to do clutch on disco and lying in the garden is a V8 R380 and bell housing- thought about it last week
