dantd5
I changed the chrome LHD right side (where the half shaft- CV ) is located. This was done in 2009 4 years and the rust has poked it's face again. The result is an-all-round-territorial-marking wherever I go. To put it straight it was a britpart. Now I have purchased a genuine part for almost £140. Hope it lasts this time... Anyone facing this problem? Snagger
Try the convoluted rubber gaiters - they stop the stones from chipping the chrome in the first place, so water never gets to contact the steel.
Litch
Many years ago I used Genuine LR chrome swivels and they rusted in under 4-years, very disapointing. In 2007 I fitted Britpart (Teflon) swivels to my current 90 and they are still perfect. Based on my previous poor experince with the Genuine LR items I did some research first and spoke to several garages asking not what they sold but what they actually fitted in the workshop. Every one stated that they fitted the BP items and had never had a problem, that was good enough for me and I haven't regreted the decision. reb78
I fitted a BP one to one side of the 110. It is currently fine, but the Teflon seems to be wearing thin in places across it. It isn't leaking at the moment and has probably been on 2.5 years
