They would seem to be very 'powerful' pieces of metal, containing much magic.

If I've identified the number correctly, and obviously I think I have :-) it is FRC3147.

Rob, I fitted Stage One Hub/stub axle assemblies as well, so I think the slightly larger diameter of the Series hubs in the vicinity of the hub seal would require that the oil catcher may need to be bored out to suit. Fitting the double lip twin spring oil seal from coiler hubs would require a sleeve be made for the series hub because the coiler seal has a smaller outside diameter.

Thanks again for the updates. My Series 2a seems to be a bit "non-standard" around many areas, so I will have to check to see if the wheel hub assemblies are standard, or "modified" in some way. Has anyone documented the necessary modifications to retro-fit these oil seals? A step-by-step photo sequence and description would be very useful.

When the oil catchers are fitted the hub outside is machined parallel and has a groove in the turned section to stop the oil running along the hub as it has to drip off where it still inside the catcher.

This is exactly the operation my newly acquired 109 series III will need on front (and maybe back)
