Reiny
I need to replace the front crankshaft oil seal (found a small puddle of oil in the bottom part of the timing case). How do I remove the sprocket? How do I put it on again and more importantly, what tips do you recommend to remove and replace oil seal? engine's a 300tdi. Reiny
Yes I have but so far all I found was a small part in the cambelt removal guide and it didn't specify how to do the job.
western
timing case has to be removed to replace the front crank oil seal, this thread shows how to do it http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=42950
Reiny
Thanks Western. The link is for a 200tdi. The 300 is significantly different but at least now i know that the sprocket can be levered out and tapped back into place.
western
D'oh, sorry, seems we don't have a crank frount oil seal change thread, that 200tdi one is the closest.
dailysleaze
This might help. Looks like a 200Tdi but says 300Tdi in the title also
