Good point. I bought on line and they Email an invoice later which I have saved, then printed, put in a plastic sleeve and keep in the box.

I've never needed the receipt when I claimed for an extension bar I sheared and a ratchet that went pop.

Just taken my box with broken hinges in having read this thread. Replacement given to me without needing to show a receipt, good service considering how much abuse the last case had clearly taken

Halfords don't usually ask for a receipt as its their name on the tools etc...result

They refused to replace my case when the hinge and clasps had finally given in, but that was ~8 years ago.

FYI the tools are made predominantly in Scotland somewhere.

I had loads of hassle trying to get two of the ratchets replaced, within about 6 weeks of buying the thing!

I think they gave me a new one of the 1/4, but attempted to fix the 3/8. Stood at the counter for about 45 mins whilst the bloke attempted to bodge the new gearing inside, but was inappropriately equipped and couldn't do it. In the end he gave me another one out of the staff tool box I think.
