need4speed
Starting to accumulate the parts i need to make the clutch pedal / master cylinder assembly for the v8. Ive noticed there are a couple of different types - up to TD5, and TD5 onwards. I was just wondering what type is best, and are they interchangable? need4speed
Thanks as always Ralph. I had noticed 2 different part numbers, but maybe it was just because one of them was superceeded..
western
numbers often get updated when a newer spec model appears, my pedal is the same as above but with the much earlier 7 digit part number.
Maverik
I'd go for a TD5 type which has the coil type pre-load spring on it, makes a hell of a lot of difference to lightness of clutch (but that is mainly talking diesels....)
need4speed
Ah. So are we saying there are different types?
Maverik
aye hold on, will get some pics Later type (reccomended): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-DEFENDER-90-110-130-UPGRADE-CLUTCH-PEDAL-ASSEMBLY-SKB500280-/271118156456?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f1fe6c2a8#ht_2115wt_1342 Pedal body is a stamped steel plate, and you get to fit the spring as shown. Early type: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-DEFENDER-CLUTCH-PEDAL-ASSEMBLY-/121284619774?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c3d206dfe#ht_44wt_1342 This one is laike a formed pedal made with a piece of folded steel, you can't fit the "magic" preload spring to it. And yes they are interchangble... (i've got a later type to fit to my 110 as I want a lighter feel)

western
the original pre 300tdi type has one long coil springs as in this diagram http://lrcat.com/31#31/4/53773 spring attaches to the pedal arm and other end secures to the bulkhead or one of the assembly bolts.
