neonovice
Hi all, I am looking to replace the rear axle on my 1980 109. I've got a few rear axles knocking about but none off a 109. The one that looks most like it is off a 1978 88, will it fit?
discomikey
I ire the springs sit out wider on a 109 in comparison to an 88, also the rear of a 109 is Salisbury, most likely because a rover axle is much weaker, what kinds of work does your truck do? ejparrott
109 springs are wider than an 88. Series 3 received the Salisbury from around 1970, believe the old rover axle wasn't up to the job.
neonovice
It's retired nowadays. I'll probably pick up a Salisbury somewhere...
Snagger
Not only would you have to move the spring saddles, you'd need to weld on damper brackets, get a custom longer prop shaft and swap the brakes over too. That would leave you with with a very weak vehicle at more expense and difficulty.
