Fastinjun
Just curious what is the factory specs on tire size for this year and model? I look and saw that its a 16 inch wheel but I could swear the Landy I have has larger wheels and tires
daveturnbull
16" is right. Tyres will probably be 235/85 R16
Snagger
235/85R16 or 7.50x16.
miketomcat
I think 265/75x16 were an optional extra but there all the same (similar) overall diameter and wheel size (265's need wider rims). Mike
mickeyw
265/75x16 was offered on the Defender 90, if fitted to a 16" x 7" Freestyle alloy. 110s were only offered by LR with the 235/85x16, and generally fitted on a Boost alloy (still 16" x 7") My guess is that a 110 would lose an unacceptable degree of steering lock if the wider tyre was fitted. Note that both these tyres measure up at approx 31" tall. Just to add that the poverty spec for Defender was 205R16 (approx 29" tall) for a 90 and 7.50R16 on a 110, both on 16" x 5.5" steel rims
Fastinjun
so 16 inch was the stock size...I couldve sworn my landy had larger rims...a real bear to take off and put on the rear door. Thanks for the replies
miketomcat
You may well have larger rims. I think you can get an 18 in defender pcd but most people put pcd altering spacers on to fit range rover alloys etc. However it didn't leave the factory like it and I'd be surprised if a lr main dealer did it. Snagger
Anything over 235/85 is a disadvantage on all surfaces but soft sand or deep snow. When you see oversize tyres in the UK on anything other than a rock crawler, it has been done out of ignorance or for the look.

I'd have to disagree there but I'm not about to start a slanging match however I'd agree that you don't need massive tyres and pattern makes a huge difference.
