ericobrave
I have to replace the rear crank oil seal on my 90 200tdi. I am shortly going to change the gearbox, is it practicle to replace this seal with the engine in situe and the gearbox out ? Do I have to remove the flywheel housing ? Finally, where online can I get a genuine Dowty seal ? Thanks
Ex Member
The flywheel cover is meant to be off and you should re-seal the back of the flywheel cover regardless. Turner Engineering.
Arjan
What the man said. And please pay for the best seal you can get - go to Turner.
steve b
Yep , what they said . It really is worth doing the flywheel housing to block gasket as it gets hard with the heat at the back of the block , and do-able with gearbox off . cheers Steveb
