  1. Thank you again Lewis - where would you use these over a flap disc ? Or visa versa ?
  2. What grade did you use on the DA ? I think I've been given a cheap air one I could try.
  3. Thanks everyone - that's a huge help !! If forgotten about those strip and clean discs - I used one ages ago and was working really well, though I ended up wearing it away really quickly on too abrasive a surface - that I probably should have had a flap disc on. What are they like for stripping (thick) paint off body work ? Should it be used in conjunction with a paint stripper ? Are the soft pads the same as the flexi pads listed on eBay ? I hadn't even realised they did these for grinders. Good call on the PPE - I'll get a face mask and fit the side handle for the wire wheels.
  4. So another beginner question from me ..... Could anyone give a brief over view of what is used for what on a grinder ? So far I've used: 1.0mm cutting discs and they seem to be ok on chassis gauge material. I've hardly used the thicker discs, for grinding - as I usually have ended up using flap discs to flatten off my welds. Flap discs (though I don't know what grade takes off how much in real terms) and I've just bought a wire wheel to try ... Is there anything I'm missing or basics to share ?
  5. I was just trying to think of a modern day alternative to Australia ....
  6. Send them to the Falklands ?
  7. The fitting instructions have a section on stopping the pad rattle. The PDFs will be on foundary's site.
  8. Of your displays - the top left one would be good if it was configurable to pick up different sensors.
  9. On the BBC news site there is a piece on people stealing trim and panels from parked cars - and their is some CCTV footage showing a couple of guys doing it, and I can't believe they look so casual and unhurried.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-33348506 I would have thought theft would have involved at least some level of stress ...?
  10. If mine is anything to go by, then around 350 miles.
  11. Gosh - I feel like a chump now !
  12. Lol - it has taken a long time ! I bought a 2nd hand concrete sectional garage to be able to work on my 80" - but it was blown down in a storm before I'd got the roof on.... Then problems with the base etc etc So finally there ! Nothing that merits its own thread - but a bit of happiness I was motivated to share .... Thus the thread revival .
  13. If you need a Td5 guinea pig let me know
  14. That's really kind Rob I may well take you up on that . - I have a saved search on eBay for a second hand band saw ...
  15. Wow loads to go at here ! Great. My MIG weighs a ton and lifting it out from under the bench isn't something I want to keep doing, and it doesn't have wheels. A table would be brilliant - except I don't have a lot of space. I'm still relatively new to welding - so perhaps a project is well worth the time investment. I'd thought of buying to save the time (which is in sparse supply). I'll certainly discount the MM one on the strength of what's shared here - not just the quality, but something lower would be better suited to moving around. I think I've just found a local place that will sell me off cuts - so time for a trip there I guess.
  16. Today I have finished painting the floor and fitting lights in my new pre-fab garage It's taken a while to get it to a finished space - but work on the series can now commence Excellent !
  17. I'm thinking I'd benefit from a trolley for my mig and bottle .... I don't move it around a lot - but it'd be nice for it to be easier to do so - and also good to have the bottle, welder, and spares tidier and in one place. Has anyone any recommendations ? I was looking at this machine mart one: https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/gwc-1-welding-cart I originally actually thought of making one - but they seem cheaper than I'd expected.
  18. Not seen one of these before : http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=371352022661&globalID=EBAY-GB
  19. Sounds brilliant - Ive wanted something like this for a while for a td5. Options seemed to be madman - but not configurable and ugly - or fit a nanocom into the dash, which falls at the first hurdle of helping people steal your car. Count me in.
  20. An NHS loyalty card ? Nurse : "we've stitched your leg and stamped your card"
  21. Genius ! Maybe the forum logo on one side and Mr Bump on the other - with a small compartment in the base for plasters ? In all seriousness though - I'm not sure what the cost of a stainless one is - but it would be an excellent 'upgrade'.
  22. I tell you what I'd really like .... A forum MUG - for brews in the garage, and maybe one for work. Perhaps with something like the Land Rover oval (in blue) - but with 'LR4X4.COM' in it ...
