  1. thanks for prompt replies.

yes it had full belts and what not swapped at 105, and has been serviced at main dealer - for what that is

is it worth swapping plugs while i can ie now before they're needed properly and too late?

  2. is it worth setting up a pinned topic for wanted / available positions for these places, saves trawling through the event threads for a seat etc or when your stcuk ringing round those you know might be able to do it and have ffered all year! - or a new section?

just a thought, seen on another forum thats all

  3. that was my thoughts, not entry level but a mate of mine has £2.5m in his laser cutter (and a bit less in the other) cuts 3d and selects its own sheet froma rack mind, but its mind bogling, knows how much of sheet is left and puts it back!

  4. Hi

Im thinking of buying this roll cage, it requires the mounts to the chassis and i would like to buy them from the manufacturer but i dont know what make it is.

Does any body recognise it? It looks like its a flat pack one that comes half welded and you finish it off your self to make it easier to post.

The front hoop has blanked off bottoms with threaded holes to allow it to be bolted to a mount.

    Cheers

    Rob

probably be as easy and quicker to make some templates , card would do, or measurements and go to your local metalworker/engineer and get some fabricated, out dims for the plte and bolt centres, (maybe take a diagnol to check they are square too) bolt i would guess was m10's so he'll probably sell you those too

  5. How much would it cost to get a total respray on the outside of a defender?

As said before totally depends on where the starting pint is and how far you want to take it for the finish, worst thing is opening the door and sitting in looking at different colours,

I ask because we have seen a few that are in great nick mechanically but have either had paint issues such as bubbling etc or just flakey,

are you sure they are mechancially soudn f the paint is flakey and blistering then the body work is on the way out!

we would go a completely different colour, we want to go dark grey or oslo blue how much would that cost?

metalics are hard to repair/touch up when (not usually if) they need to be - just a thought for the future thats all

If there is anyone within 30 miles of essex that would do it also around late april early may time could they contact us?

stay clear of the big boys if money is tight, a small backstreet garage can do the business but have less overheads, if you have the premises try do the masking and removal works to rduce their hours on it, maybe even o the the paint shop lads will do it 'out of hours' at yours?? ;)

  6. the old black original hoses on my 300tdi were soft and swelled on boost.

its not just on boost, we had some on the FL10 that were soft and when the overrun kicked it is compressed and sucked flat causing it to starve which cut the engine till the pipes were replaced (pretty fast!)

  7. I think it's to do with the tunnel for the bell housing. I am sure they are bigger on a 300Tdi version (fitted with R380 rather than LT77 for 200Tdi)

    HTH

    Ivan

tunnel is deifferent but i beleive you can put a 300 on a 200 (not the other way though) you will need the tunnel and tunnel to bulkhead bit that connects the lot though aswell.

  8. Full size oxy bottles even with rental charge are cheep, propane will last ages, poss do 3 to 4 oxy to 1 propane, burning gear is not to dear, second hand option but make shure all arresters work and pipes are not perrished,

    Carl.

Using Propane you should get nearer 20 oxy out of a propane assuming you mean size W oxy (tall 5ft ish bottle) and a full size propoane (47kg), aceyltene ((size F or H)3 1/2 to 4ft tall stubby things!), is nearer your 3/4 bottles of oxy

they are the job, for chopping up scrap!

Grinders etc are limited to the depth they can cut to and also restrict when getting into the likes of webbing and all that, Scrap yards will take it in large lumps just at a slightly reduced rate to compensate for the cutting up they have to do, if oxy / propane was the way to do it im sure you'd see them using angle grinders but you dont do you????

I would dream of letting someone come collect any scrpa i had for nothing knowing what its worth at the moment!
