  1. metalic takes 3 or 4 passes to get the cover, where as with standard 'flat' colours you can coover the panel in one,

a matter of building up the 'layers' with each pass the mist covers over and over till all the panel is coloured....

.....have i just confused it or does that make sense?

think of colouring in with a felt tip, where you go over a previous line you get that horrible lap

with metalic you get something similar

  2. I was chatting to Mike about it on sunday but I don't need a bespoke one just want to see whats on the market..

i have oone if you want to borrow it for the mould, or i could get some made from my FG man - he does all the bits for the rally car - finished with the gel coat ready to fit an paint

  3. Another budget option might be a 240V rattle gun, I have one of these from before I got my rechargable one. Bit more umph and no batteries to run low, just not as convenient as you have to drag a cable round like a hose on an air gun.

my dewalt gun has never failed me, buy it in a kit and then add to it with bare accessories such as drill light grinder etc

    perfect

  4. Too right... slot the wheel nut studs into the wheel you've had to remove to get to the brakes and sit on the edge of the tyre while you 'attack' it with a long breaker bar and the right sized socket

i have wedged a long breaker bar btween two studs before today to get the bolts holding the disk on, off

  5. If you are thinking of camping I would say the only way to go would be to take your own vehicle, we camped every day and most sites were ok if a little basic in places, all costing around £7 pppn.

You seem to mention camping, as an option, is it not a tad cold for that or is that just me thinking (i know doesnt always happen and yes its usually miles out!)

  6. Thinking of having a trip accross the water to Iceland, yes i know miles away but hey must be worth it when you get there?

OPtions please, any one done it before , take you rown vehicle or hire one which then moves to fly out or ferry.

Flights from LHR from £200 Leeds £400 or manchester something inbetween

Ferry where do you sail from is it striaght forward or does it take a couple of years to get there!

    any help much appreciated

  7. oil filter head adaptors are NRC8618 only used on 2.5 petrol,2,5n/a diesel,2.5TD & 200Tdi engines, not listed for 300Tdi as the correct hose screw directly into the oil filter head.

i see. what is the thread on those pipes, perhaps i could get an adaptor to suit the standard pipe thread and my braided hose thread - if only

  8. On the Tdi's i've had, the oil pipes were male and they screwed into a female casting on the filter housing.

do you mean on the radiator? mine had a male-male threaded bit (and they're different threads for Tdi radiators and TurboD rads! the thread for the "pipe" is the same)

no on the oil cooler at filter end, think its got confused due to the bl**dy thing having braided cooler hoses which have the female end!

perhaps im looking for the unfindable?

  9. where the oil cooler pipes connect to the filter housing there appears to be two fitting (one on each pipe) male to male so the cooler pipe can connect into it, (the cooler has a female end and so does the filter housing)

anyone no the part numbers for these?

ps its for a 300 tdi!

    cheers

  10. I use a mini HVLP gun on my standard compressor, its a 2.5hp twin with 50l tank and does the job nicely (shame my technique is carp) - i dont know how this would compare to a dedicated setup but i do know axminster tools are normally of excellent quality.

i use a hvlp gun not one of those gravity fed thing's and it works pretty good, as for tank size i think mine is about 100l, that depends whether you can cope with the noise all the time or just when the pressure drops.

i have a regulator between the hose from tank and my gun, instead of changing the main regulator all the time

  11. my recently aquired tomcat has the rad in the back out of the way which is fine,

just put in the engine a 300tdi and need to complete the plumbing.

    a) on a std vehicle the head has a little steel pipe which brings water from the pump to the heater box and then circulates back, can i bypass this pipe, and blank of the head return?

    B) the oil filter housing has female threads where the pipes go to oil cooler, as mine has had aeroquip hose fit i need to get a connector (double ended male  ) to mate the pipes to the housing any ideas on thread?

    c) top of the water pump there is something missing? is this a feed in from heater box or cyl head r what, can i blank it off?

    cheers in advance

    Michael

  12. Well you could mate, but they wouldn't be very smooth anymore!!

small block of magnesium bolted to the steel frame

the magnesium reacts with steel before the aluminium so once that goes, replace it onstead of the aluminium door skins

  13. I had my eye on this deal, looks like a bargin to me

    http://www.itslondon.co.uk/pd_DEWDC729KAID...erDrillPack.htm

I can't speak highly enough of dewalt products, especially there cordless drills

got this impact gun, use for rallying and general use, weight to use is bril, the cost is exactly you get what you pay for

dewalt batteries are all interchangeable so another plus, batteries charge in the hour, and they will undo hundreds of nuts!

  14. Hoe about a hinged "Drop Down" vertical support half way along - will add a huge amount of strength, then your safer with the thinner lighter ramps ?

    Nige

i have some light ones from 50 x 50 x 3 angle and they are fine for the 90 length maybe a little shorter but without measuring cant be too sure of exact dims

the trailer i have came with some very HD things, nearly takes two of you to lift them:

100x50x4 box about 2/2.25m long, very slow incline to trailer though! think they were made to put a min digger (3t) on back of a farm trailer

  15. I though about moving the rad to the middle and putiing the td% cooler acros infornt, but like you say the pipes are longer

i was going to fit it towards the top of the rad so the pipe could be nearer the air intake on the block though

stainless pipe and silicone hose should be ok instead of the rubber stuf
