That's the problem I have with the 3.54's in 1st is just to high which makes normally pulling away in 2nd even harder so have to use 1st then when I have the trailer on or towing something 1st is a bit sketchy and then 4th is to low without an o/d so my thinking is if I was to fit 3.9:1 diffs 1st would be a lot lower and probably wouldn't need to use it unless I was towing so 2nd would be ideal for pulling away then if I fit a Roamadrive 4th would be a lot better
Yeah i was toying with the idea of going to 4.3 diffs but with a roamadrive the overall gearing would be close to what i have now so have decided on 3.9's, 4.1's would be even better but think they are custom made though l.
As Chicken Drumstick said but mine will top 80 but as been said 1st is more like 2nd but plan to fit a 3.9 :1 diff and fit a Roamerdrive later so I should have best of both worlds
Recon'd gearbox with 3.54 diffs, before i did the back to std transferbox swap i was getting 33 mpg and after the transferbox swap i'm getting 35 mpg so when i get chance i will do another mpg test đ
I must admit i haven't used these yet so if i get a bonnet at billing they will be getting used for that then after billing i plan to strip all the wood on the front of my garage down to replace the doors with taller doors and mod the front Apex to suit the doors so again the tie down hooks will be used to that as the new timber will be to long to go on the trailer âšī¸
Yeah i've never really trusted the spot welded ones as i remember my dad years ago carrying some timber on the roof of his 2a and one let go whilst it was all tied down with thin rope so with all mine i've always used the series style rear ones đ
For carrying / strapping stuff on the roof, whilst at the show i'm hoping to get an early 2a bonnet as mine as you can see has an S3 bonnet which is not original and with it being a 1970 2a it should have the 2a bonnet fitted as with the Maltease grill but i've not decided on what i'm doing about that as i hate the S3 grill but Maltease grills are to expensive aspecially as they are easy to steal but with the bonnet i will be carrying it home on the roof đ
Hi guys
I've been thinking for a while now about buying an old chest of draws and putting all my tools in it as my old Snapon roll cab and Superpro topbox just isn't big enough anymore, so has anyone got any pic's of what they use please for insperation đ
