Hi guys
As the Disco 200tdi FIP is getting hard to get now i've decided to buy a 300tdi FIP to fit to my 200tdi engine.
The engine started life as a Defender 200tdi engine but when i aquired the engine the timing case was damaged where the alt / power steer pump bracket bolted to the timing case and one of the long studs that goes into the engine block through timing case was snapped as well, anyway i decided to re-dress the engine as a Disco 200tdi by fitting a Disco timing case inc timing belt, Disco turbo and manifolds but still using the Defender FIP and fitting it into my late 2a 88 which even though the engine runs fine it just doesn't have enough grunt both bottom end power and top end power which a Disco FIP should give but with a 300tdi FIP there are 3 different ones, i know the EDC one i don't need but not sure which of the other 2 i need so is it possible for someone to give me the correct part number of the one i need please π
As far as i know all series 2a / 3 transfer boxes are the same ratio but the gearboxes had different ratio's so a suffix A would be different to a suffix B and so on, hope this helps π
Yeah when i first fitted the front disc kit it never accured to me that the mast cylinder would need adjusting but the after fitting the rear kit and had to pump the pedal i put it down to pos air in the system more than rod adjustment but thought i would give it a go and see and has made a difference.
Not heard out from Zeus yet but i've just adjusted the rod on the master cylinder and its better and feels like all 4 wheels are working together now π
Thanks guys for all this info but i just want to see if there is any air in the system first, just waiting for a brake bleeder to arrive as me and son bled the brakes but i don't always have him to hand so once it comes i will give them another bleed, i will also check that the rod on the master cylinder doesn't need adjusting and if that doesn't sort it then i will look into replacing the master cylinder to a better one and a servo and servo pedal box π
Arjan, what setup are you using for master cylinder, are you using a servo and or do you have a compansator valve fitted, just trying to find out what i'm missing if re-bleeding the brakes doesn't work π
All i'm using is a series universal master cylinder that can be used for either a brake or clutch master cylinder, no servo or compensator valve fitted.
Was out all day in the landy today done over 100 mile and the shock are great not a massif improvement on normal driving but you notic a big difference going over speed bumps but would come into thier own when off road for peeps into off roadingπ
Well i've been out all day in the landy covered over 100 miles and the brakes are great but what i have noticed is under normal braking if feels like the just front brakes are working but if i pump the pedal just once it then feels like all the brakes are working so i'm not sure if there is still some air in the system or if i do need a bigger master cylinder so i will give it another bleed at the weekend and see.
Yeah, my bro came round on Saturday who used to be into landy's and classic Jag's and thinks the kits are classic Jag parts and Zeus does stuff for classic Jag as well.
As I said in my other thread it was to late in the evening to try them and as I'm in work today (in walking distance ) I won't get to try them but it's my normal day off tomorrow so I will try them out and give it a run
