  1. My pleasure, and yes, the owner was being super careful with his brand new toy Having said that, the rear wheel was spinning a LOT for a vehicle with a rear e-diff, I'm sure my RRS doesn't spin its rear wheels as much. The D4 struggled up that sandy hill (trickier than it looks) because they didn't deflate their tyres (running at 2.5 bar) until the 3rd attempt (1.2 bar), at which point it went up without any trouble - there were 6 not-very-skinny people in that car 😅
  2. chaps, we finally took a New Defender out this past weekend. The driver is a novice on modern LRs, as you will see, and we were coaching him on which modes, gears, to use, etc. It could be just me, but somehow I don't think the TR on this model is as good as the one on my RRS... if you look at what happens in the video from around 6:00 onwards, and compare that to how my RRS handled that same section two months ago (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvqnliHlIKc). Ok, we have to allow for the massive rains we've had in the region, and driver skills but still, I thought the Defender with 18" BFG ATs (deflated to 2.0 bar IIRC) would walk this obstacle...
  3. some tough-looking underbody protection from Matzker:

  6. Yeah, he just wants help understanding how to drive with TR, he's been driving Pumas for the past 10 years or so. More likely that he will outdo my RRS, due to his higher ground clearance and more advanced TR. I did tell him to spec it with the rear e-diff, but not sure if he did. I'm definitely taking my GoPro with 😁
  7. Some exciting news for me - friend of mine has now done 3000km in his new Defender, and now wants to test if off-raod against my RRS. We are now debating which of these two trails we're going to do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1NIDVuaT4A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqOPRESN4Bk The first one has some very technical sections, and my RRS struggles a bit with the one obstacle requiring plenty of rock building, whereas the second one will be very slippery as it has been raining non-stop for the past week. That tricked out 90 with full ARB lockers will also be there, and possible another new Defender. decisions, decisions!
  8. some good news for the people stuck in the previous century:
  9. Jeep Gladiator vs Land Rover Defender vs Classic Defender vs Rock Garden - The Gladiator Rubicon is described in another build video. It’s twin-locked with a 2" or 2.5” Lift with 35” tires - The Defender in the video is a First Edition. It’s totally unlocked, and the only mods are a set of KO2s (Nothing fancy, same size as stock just better grip) and a set of lifting rods which, as you’ll hear in the video, “trick” the suspension into thinking it’s on-road height, when it’s actually lifted.
  10. Probably not legal anywhere first-world'ish. We could probably get away with it in ZA, but LR would void the warranty in a flash. https://www.facebook.com/1764327793832190/posts/2649086655356295/ You have to tilt your phone until the man standing in the background is vertical to compensate for the camera angle. Still, not bad on road tyres.
  11. so looks like you need a calipwer swap to fit 18" to the P400
  12. Local guy took his P400 off-road: drag race against a G350
  13. You mean because the classic Defender never had a big ass V8 engine? Oh wait... 😂
  14. LOL, it's lockdown and I've got nothing better to do 😅
  15. Lucky8 have fitted 18" rims to a P400 *WITHOUT* any calliper modification
  16. and more issues for PowerfulUK: - 360 camera - Emergency steering and brake assist - Lost power steering
