  1. Yes, at least when I measure them fitted that what it shows. It's 45mm across and I can see the bush is sticking out a mm or so either side
  2. Thanks as always mate. Just checking before I order - they are: 2 * DKU500010 - https://www.lrworkshop.com/parts/DKU500010 2 * 37H5208L - https://www.lrworkshop.com/parts/37H5208L Using the VIN feature for my 1991 110 at: https://www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/land-rover-defender-body-electrics/wash-wipe-systems/windscreen-washer_52899
  3. I believe I have a TD5 front axle that is post 2002 on my 1991 200TDI 110. Axle code says 31M04596A after best cleaning efforts below (find it here btw) axle list here if that helps anybody else. The seal is leaking as detailed here so I'd like to replace it, but also order a complete kit of parts for future travels, eg: List of kits Help appreciated in identifying what parts from this page I need to replace the entire axle ends would be greatly appreciatedplease https://www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/land-rover-defender-axles-suspension/front-axle/drive-shafts_52600
  4. OK, thanks mate, not meant as a criticism obviously, just a naive suggestion etc
  5. Do we have, or could we create, a useful guide to Defender chassis numbers to solve the problem below please, I'm sure others suffer from it as well? Parts suppliers have things like "Defender - up to KA930455" on a web page for a front axle part. However my Defender is a hybrid of axles, transfer boxes and so on from 1991 to 2005... My chassis number is from 1991, but my axle from after 2002, so I have no idea if the part will fit etc. Can we create a list of chassis number ranges per year and per engine? And then a web form where you put in your chassis number and the 'up to KA930455' part and it says if it fits etc?
  6. Revivng an old post rather than starting a new one... Have these proven to be high quality and lasted well etc? Looking at one of the tope hoses that goes from the engine breather(?) to the air intake for my 200tdi Defender etc
  7. Thanks, sadly can't drive the 2,500km back to the UK to claim it under warranty ;-( Will I just need the oil seal (LR059968 (FTC3401) for a TD5 axle?) and new grease http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/6975/FTC3401-CHROME-BALL-SWIVEL-OIL-SEAL.html?search=FTC3401 &page=1 or more pieces from a kit like this http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/40746/DA3167G-SWIVEL-HOUSING-KIT-DEFENDER-OEM-.html?search=swiv kit&page=1 (will buy genuine parts)
  8. Ive had my rear chassis cross member replaced and as part of the work we took the wiring loom out of the chassis, protected it and put it along the top of the chassis rails - so the hole it normally comes out of is left gaping - and much to my surprise the workshop left all 4 large holes exposed on the chassis that will happily fill up with carp over time. Seems sensible to blank these off with stiff rubber grommets for example? Is there a standard part number I can use if so?
  9. I've just had all four axle ends pulled out and inspected, new bearings put in etc. Front drivers side had a whole new Swivel housing etc I then drove 600 miles and had quite a lot of grease on the inside of the front passenger side (its a TD5 front axle). Enough to fill an expresso cup. I wiped it away, drove another 600 miles and checked again - a little blob was present in the same place. Quarter of an Expresso. Drove another 600 miles, and nothing major appeared. After sitting for a week I have some seepage as shown below. Checked that there was some grease in the swivel housing, seems ok.... but can't do easily at the moment. So which situations are most likely from your combined wisdom please? 1. Seal needs to be replaced (water, sand etc can get in easily etc). 2. Was overfilled with grease, excess is leaking out, should stop, is well sealed as pressure pushed out 3. Opposite side being replaced has caused a slight pressure imbalance somewhere 4. Something is too loose or too tight Any help suggested. As I'm preparing a run down into the Sahara for a few months I'm guessing replacing the seal is the way to go...
  10. I've never had the need for one previously, normally always been able to pull directly out using a normal tow rope, but always keen to try new exciting things 😉 What are the brands to look for?
  11. I'm after a new Kenitic recovery rope - anything to be aware of when buying - major differences between brands etc?
  12. Also probably worth checking this as well if somebody can help.... On the Radius arm to chassis bush there is either NRC4514 - to VA130784 (1997 MY) or ANR6971 - from VA130785 (1997 MY) Is there any way to tell them apart? Else I'm guessing I go for the VIN correct option (NRC4514) on that one seeing as the Radius arm to axle bush is VIN correct so they should match....
  13. Awesome, definitely M16 bolts, so I can order with confidence, plus I know know a little more about my Landy 😉 Thanks!! 😁
  14. I'm looking to change all of the bushes at the front of my 1991 110, however it is fitted with a TD5 axle so it makes it harder to blindly order the correct parts. https://www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/land-rover-defender-axles-suspension/front-suspension/radius-arms-links_52609#5 Armed only with the knowledge that I have a TD5 front axle how can I determine if I should order: ANR3410 https://www.lrworkshop.com/parts/ANR3410 (Chassis VINs to 2A626645 (2002 MY) RBX101340 https://www.lrworkshop.com/parts/RBX101340 (Chassis VINs from 2A626646 (2002 MY) If it helps, the Radius arm to axle bush is the '46mm wide - To KA' version
  15. Worth watching these.... I always buy genuine unless I have a strong recommendation from a trusted mechanic about the quality of individual parts etc (Just bought a stop solenoid from Britpart branded by Bosch - came in a Bosch bag etc) so its very part specific etc
  16. Wondering if we have enough collective wisdom and ability here to design a better middle seat for our Defenders? My thinking is.... I have a 1991 3 door Hardtop 110. I like having the middle seat as then I can take 2 people with me. I had replaced it with a cubby box, but it was in the way a lot, mean't I could only have 1 passenger, is a magnet for thieves etc However the middle seat doesn't do much if not being sat in, and the back doesn't tilt forward so the space behind the seat is kind of 'dead'. What would be great is if it folded forward with a firm push and provided: - an arm rest on the back along each side (velcro for removability?) - either various storage pouches like a camera bag (below) with a quick cover for when you folded it back - or space for a day pack to clip into place (idea being when you leave the Landy you just unclip and remove all of your valuables with ease rather than gathering them up etc) - or Velcroable modules, either open or closed, to suit each tastes that stick on or off up = normal middle seat down = arm rest, storage holders or day pack I assume you'd need: - some inline hinges on the frame that stay firm over time to achieve a easy push/pull activation - shorten the back rest so it doesn't interfere with the Transfer Box when folded forward - understand the legality of changing it(?) Any further thoughts welcome....
  17. Thanks Though my question was more 'what parts do I need' as I'll need to strip it out, guestimate what parts to replace, find their parts numbers and then wait about 10 days for delivery - during which time I cant stick the dash back together. So trying to get organised enough to have all of the parts on hand so the strip down and rebuild can be done in 2-3 days etc
  18. Thank mate, what size (mm) if you remember please?
  19. Rebuilding my 200TDI dash and wondering if there is a better solution than the standard heater demister pipe? Asking as they seem too short and wiggle out of place - but assume you need something vaguely heat resistent etc Did later models use something better? (imagine nicked from lrseries.com!)
  20. On my 1991 200TDI I'm about to strip the dash down to bare metal, sound proof and rebuild it etc. So seems like a good time to swap out the windscreen wiper pieces that fail - made more relevant as I've just drive 3,500 miles through lashing rain with noisy wipers (new wiper blades and WD40 inside the blade holder connections didn't help). Can anybody advise on what parts numbers fail please? I like to do something once, so will probably buy a new motor as well even though its not that hard to get too to replace later etc) https://www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/land-rover-defender-body-electrics/wash-wipe-systems/windscreen-washer_52899
  21. LR made for a while a 'short bell housing' or 'stumpy' R380 for the 200TDI - I have one fitted. Ashcroft sell them, but they are quite expensive from memory... Maybe try to find the casing and build it yourself?
  22. Appreciate if somebody could help me with the following please. Going to order some front and rear Koni shocks from Paddocks.... On their menu system they have shocks for A. Defender to WA159806 B. Defender from XA159807 I have a 1991 200 TDI, however: 1. Front axle is from a TD5 2. Rear axle is from a 300TDI (has disc brakes etc) So do I order from option A, B or one from each as I don't understand the cut off's for those chassis numbers relating to 200TDi, 300TDI, TD5, Puma etc?! TIA 😉 https://www.paddockspares.com/off-road/suspension/koni-dampers.html
  23. OK, thanks all, brilliantly bodged until next week when the rear chassis is being replaced and all of the wiring replaced with new end points and led lights etc rather than the birds next it currently is 😉
