  1. Noticed that mine was broken into two, not sure if it broke during the engine swap. Anyhow not had a problem without it. Ralph is it very important or its ok with out this piece.
  2. Interesting idea! My cousin here in Bangalore showed me this paint a few days back. Nice rubberised feel. Should solve the roof problem.I have a 110 and now that you mention it, you must try it out. Will be great to do all the interior floor panels.
  3. What are the correct LED bulbs for the speedometer. Mine are too dim, can't see anything at all. Is it a straight bulb swap?
  4. Ok guys, went under the vehicle and asked someone to move the steering to each side. No shakes what so ever. However decided to tight all bolts and noticed that the steering box bolts were loose especially where the drop arm is. Tightened all everything basically, damper, shocks, track rod ends, radius arm ends both sides, etc. Took her out for a spin and there was less wobble, but its still there. Took out the steering damper and noticed that its very easy to compress and uncompress it. Looks like it shot, so will change this to the Terrafirma RTC Defender steering damper ( as I plan to use 35" BFG MT/KM2 or MAXXIS BIG HORNs later). Any opinions on the Terrafirma RTC versus OME SD32 damper? Also checked the panhard rod and bushes all ok and nice and tight.
  5. All wheels bearings were replaced for the front and rear six months back.
  6. I had changed all the bushes to polybush BLUE a year back and they all are ok. Will check the steering box out put shaft tomorrow. THanks
  7. Thanks guys. I replaced the spare wheel back with the original and the problem was still there. Tomorrow am removing the front shocks and damper to check if they are ok. I have the swivel kits minus the swivel balls, all track rod ends and also the drop arm track rod. Will check everything else, will change the swivel balls plus kit, track rod ends, drop arm track rod, steering damper to RTC Terrafirma, panhard bushes etc and then see. Will first try the panhard bushes and see. Can't even drive my landy above 40km and I use it everyday. How I wish I was in the UK.
  8. Thanks a lot guys! Do you think the mechanic has over tightened the front shocks and thats why this is happening?
  9. Guys , Need your help! I recently changed the upper steering joint, lower steering shaft and lower steering joint (ALL OEM) as they were a totally gone. My mechanic also tightened all the bolts/nuts on the front shocks and back shocks as they were loose. Took the Defender 110 to my farm last Saturday and on Sunday when I wanted to leave saw that my right front tyre had a totally flat. Hence changed it and replaced it with my spare tyre. Came out of the farm on to the main road and suddenly got a massive wobble as if the front tyres were going to pop out any time. Checked the nuts and they were all tight. This was the first time I got this massive wobble. Shook me up a bit. Was doing about 40Km or so. Later reached the main expressway and had no problem at all. This Saturday had to go to a city about 400km each way and out of this the first 150 km is a fantastic expressway and was doing about 80-100Km and had no problem or wobble. The remaining road is a state highway and not that good, lot of potholes and uneven road. After I did about 20Km more the horrible front wheel wobble again appeared and this time I was doing about 80km, immediately braked and slowed down and the wobble disappeared. Got down totally shaken and checked all the track rod ends, steering damper and shocks everything seemed ok. Oh! By the way I had replaced the spare with the original punctured tyre, so it was the same tyre which was there from the start. Also had to crawl back at 40-60KM/HR the remaining KMS. Again coming back the last 150KM expressway, I could do 90-110KM/Hour and no wobble, however if there was a bad patch in the road then the wobble appeared and this time at 80km and it shook the Landy very much, just eased it and drove back at 40km. Carried on and again this kept happening between 40-60km per hour and could not go above these speeds as front wheels would wobble like mad. This happens especially on bad roads or when there is a bad patch in the road. On perfect flat roads it never happened. Something I noticed that when it was wobbling & if I shook the steering wheel from left to right and versa the wobbling stopped, but this was only at slow speeds and not at high speeds. The tyre pressure was ok in both tyres. Am not sure if my track rod ends are knackered or this is because of the steering damper or the tightening of the front shocks. Also the swivel joints and ball seem ok after 159000 kms. Am not sure if the previous owner has ever changed the shocks and springs! I am the fourth owner. But all the bushes have been changed to BLUE polybush one a year back and I never had this problem at all. I have brand new grease able track rod ends and new swivel kits (excluding the swivel ball). Can this be a problem because of the swivels? The right one was leaking though. Not sure whether I need to change the track rod ends, swivel balls and kits & steering dampers! Yes my tyres are pretty old and hard, but I have been running the Landy for over three years with them and never had this problem. Would appreciate if someone more technical than me can help me solve this problem, would be highly appreciated for a quick response. Now I feel scared to drive my 110. Was going to take the entire family for a long holiday with some off-roading involved too. Now am too scared to cause any injury to anyone or my family unless I sort this issue out. Rgds Prith
  10. As usual Ralph, you are great help. Just wondering where can I get the workshop manual? Can I buy one? Any websites where its available. Or is there any place to download the entire manual.
  11. Ralph, Regarding The Anti-rattle Rubber strip 348747. Where does it fit? Cant make out much from your photo. Is it near the upper steering joint? Or do I have to take out the entire steering wheel and its somewhere inside? Need to replace mine as it rattles and there is no rubber strip.
  12. Had to replace my upper and lower steering joints and noticed that the previous owners have welded the one of the side of the shaft to the joint. Later noticed that the idiots have the upper joint in the lower place and the lower joint in the upper place. Plus the shaft was not long enough and was just 5mm welded to the upper joint and in turn was bolted the power steering box. Another shocker is that the steering shaft itself is not from a landrover and some other vehicle. Gosh what people will do to cut corners. Thank God the welding did not give way while I was driving. So now I have to get a brand new one, which is RTC4738. I remember seeing the sequence of the joints and lower steering shaft on this forum, Damn should have saved it Could not find it in the search. I know the upper steering joint comes first but not too sure about the lower steering shaft, weather the shorter side is to the top or vice versa. Just cant find that thread, can you guys help me on this. Thanks.
  13. Need to do mine too. It seems that from the fuel lift pump to the tank there is a small plastic pipe and also another from the other pipe to the fuel injection pump. Does it not have metal pipes directly to the lift pump and IP or does it have to have plastic ones in between?
  14. Re-cored my 200tdi one here in India and it works like a dream. Would love to upgrade to the Allisport rad/IC & Rad frame some day.
  15. Marco, I too have a Def 110 200tdi, plan on getting an A/C unit fixed. Have a standard inter cooler. Is it possible to fit a performance full intercooler + air con condensor? Some more info would be great. I am running the normal viscous fan with the shroud, plan on getting a 14" Kenlowe Fan but will still keep the viscous fan, as in India, it gets very hot in summer about 40-44 degrees centigrade.
  16. Yes Mark, it does have a contract number. Will post that tomorrow. Don't have it right now.
  17. Just saw a LR DISCO 2 with a V8 Petrol. On opening the bonnet, there was another plate mentioning " SPECIAL VEHICLE" what does this mean?
  18. Ralph, which OME ones have you fitted? How good are the OME steering dampers & are the RTC? How would you compare Terrafirma to OME?
  19. Hi! My speedometer cable keeps popping out of the gearbox on the LT77. Noticed that there is a threaded hole above the hole where the speedometer cable has to be inserted. I have a feeling there is some kind of clamp that holds the washer of the cable. Could not find the part number, will be great if someone can please do the needul Thanks
  20. Hi! Have a def 200tdi 110 with a DX Roverdrive to the LT77/LT230. When engaged it whines a lot. When you take off the foot of the accel pedal, the whine disappears. We also checked the spring preload and all the bearings which seem fine. In normal driving condition without the OD, the whine is not there. Any clue what is happening. Have check the everything on the OD. Do you think one of the bearings is gone on the OD.
  21. Well first of all I love my landy a lot and make sure she's clean. This is after the swap of the 2.5NA to Def 200tdi. Still need to do a lot. Planning on getting SAMCO coolant silicon pipes and want to use stainless steel braided pipes for all the fuel pipes. Etc. Will also add a Kenlowe fan at a later stage. Regarding keeping her clean, well I make sure I dedicate a day to keep her that way, especially a sunday with some nice jazz and a beer the cleaning & polishing does not take long.
  22. Well here are mine. Did a swap from the 2.5NA to the Def 200tdi. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
