perhaps its a worn oil pump and theres not enough oil getting to the head

my tyres are 75s 85s are 100mm bigger

has anybody fitted 235-85-R16 tyres to a 90 without a lift kitt becouse i have just brought some off fleabay by mistake (DONT DRINK AND EBAY IT MAY BE BAD FOR YOUR WELTH)

if i was worried about the miles per gallon i would be driving a fiat punto . iv been trying to figer out the white smoke problem for 2 years theres only a couple of things i havnt changed so i carnt give up on the old girl just yet

i have changed the rocker shaft the old one wasnt that bad but it did make a big diferance so i must be on the right track. i am now thinking it may be worn rocker arms as these ones do seem to be diferant thicknesses and the ends have a blue tinge to them .they must have overheated at some stage

CURLYdont bother changing the rocker shaft it did improve a litle and i definatly got more power it is definatly some thing to do whith the valve train

i have the same problem and have changed everything including the pistons and still no good . i have just brought a new rocker shaft from paddocks for £12 but havnt got around to changing it yet . if you can wait untill next weekend i will let you know if it worked . but i would say that the problem would either be rocker shaft,sticking valves or tappit guids sticking as those are the only thing i havnt changed. p,s when you start her up make sure she is in gear and as soon as she starts to rev find the biteing point and the smoke seems to stop strait away. its not the best but it saves the embarisment untill i fix it. pps let me know how you get on.

6 months ago i fitted a new lift pump on my 2.5td (19j) and everythink worked fine but yesterday i changed the filter and when i went to bleed the feul it wouldnt pump so i moved the engine and still no good . i did this a few times but it wouldnt pump . has it gone again and what happens if i drive it whithout changing it is it just the bleeding that suffers or is there anything else?

i have just replaced mine i got them from paddocks

yep and all the caps are on the valves and all pushrods are strait

if you take the nut off the ball joint and put it back on upside down then put a sutable wedge under neath the nut and undo the nut with an extended spanner the joint will pop out . then grinde the top off the ball joint the ball will then come out allowing you to saw the rest out with a hacksaw . to put the new joint in you can take the tops off the seraited teeth grease it up replace the two retaining nuts and slowly tighten them one at a time you may have to tap the last millimeter in with a chisel though . i did mine last saterday and what a differance when you pull away and theres a lott less roll back on the hand brake

if you look at the threads on 6 and 7 they are more adjusted than the rest and you can hear something isnt wright

so do you think that could be the problem? it certenly sounds like it. peaple keep telling me to change the engine to a 200 but i just carnt seem to admit defeat besides she is like one of the kids . what do you recomend i change the shaft or the arms or both

hi les can you tell me what are the symptoms of a worn rocker on the performance,smoke,starting ? i reacently re ground the valves and changed the head gaskit . one of the valves had a very thick carbon deposit witch i cleaned off . wile adjusting the tappits i notised that the valve that needed cleaning had to be adjusted much ferther than the rest. i have always had a lot of white smoke on startup even after changing the injectors,lift pump,injector pump,heater plugs and pistons and now i dont know what els it could be if you could help whith this problem i would be very gratefull

hi can anybody tell me the long term efects on a 19j engine of a worn rockar shaft ? (apart from the noise)and do i need to take the rocker shaft out to tern it over as lez sergested

has anybody seen or fitted a hand throttle if you have do you have any pics of the engine end of the cable? i brought one so i could take my disabled mate offroad . it lookes to me that there should be more bitts than just the cable
