Certainly someone from the Freelander Club has done one of the Morroco excursions.
-
Has anyone checked whether the VCU has seized?
If it is "eating" IRD's and a rear diff it would be the first thing I would suspect.
-
That's the first place to check, the gap seems to be critical.
-
Any Td4, or if too much an older L series diesel
Not a 1.8 petrol because of the potential of the head gasket going, or the V6 unless you have a deep pocket to pay for the horrendoes fuel consumption.
-
Front CV joint's on the way out?
-
No manual over-ride, and not that I know off.

I'll repeat my posting from another Forum!
Did you take up the offer of a half day instruction at an LR Experience Centre on how to drive you Freelander? Presumably not. I suggest you talk to the dealer and see if they can get you on another one. If they can't you could join the Freelander Club and some of us will show you how SAFE and SECURE the car is.
People seem to expect that because it has 4x4 it will do everything, but sorry it won't unless you know what you are doing. Were you going down hill and braked? If so, no 4x4 is exempt from gravity, but if you had put the Terrain Response into "mud" and switched the Hill Descent Control on BEFORE you entered it might have helped.
You are allowed to have your vehicle serviced by a non LR garage and keep the warranty as long as you can PROVE that all servicing has been to the exact LR programme and only LR parts have been used.

Why? The above corrects an incorrect posting earlier with the EXACT details of past actions against the land owners of Cwmderw Farm, otherwise known as Tom's Farm.
-
"William John Jones, 55, of Cwm Farm, Blaen-y-Coed, Carmarthenshire, was sentenced to six months in jail suspended for two years. "
Wrong name, wrong address, wrong county.

Old Leafer, yes help has been offered in the past but has not been taken up. Even the CC have pointed him in the right directions, but he is very much "old school" and likes to do things his way. I don't think emailing the Council will make any difference in this case as it is now in the Court's hands.
Edit: the Police were on the approaches to the site last weekend, and speaking to one of the local "boys in blue" they will be checking all over Easter.
-
Agreed.
He will have to apply for FULL Planning permission for the place first, due to a change of use from agruicultural, and I suspect that a lot of his neighbours would object to that, and he would have to prove full insurance, H & S assessments, polution control etc before Powys CC even looked at an application

As a local, I doubt whether Rhayader will hardly notice the difference if that place is closed on not.
-
Don't think you are allowed to drive on Pembrey. I am sure there are NO VEHICLE signs up there. Top end is MOD Land as well, so beware.

Quote from today's Cambrian News:
" A Pantydwr couple accused of breaching prohibition notices which prevented them from hiring their land for use with off-road vehicles are to appear in Court this month.
Thomas Steven John Breeze and his wife Elizabeth of Cwmderw, Pantydwr near Rhayader are facing charges of of contravening a prohibition imposed by Powys County Council under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. The case at Llandrindod Magistrates Court was adjourned until 28th April for pre-trial review and mode of trial"

I can only think of 2 now in Wales that allow true driving,
Newport, Pembs, & Black Rock.
A little bit of the top of Borth, right by the Dyfi estuary is a car park.
Pendine was closed a couple of years ago.
There are some in North Wales that you can get launching permits for, but you can only do that and not drive around.
-
Before you do anything, check the condition of the 2 VCU support bearings.

Think it might be a bit to big to send as an attachment!!
They are sometimes advertised on a certain auction site, but we can't encourage you to buy an illlegal copy ;-)
What year is your FL as I have a Haynes for up to 2000 year? PM me if you want it.
EDIT< just looked at your first post and see you have aTd4 so my Haynes is too early!!

One of mine went.
You do not need to remove the seat. You can take the cover of the backrest whislt it is still fitted. Bottom of the fabric has a funny sort of plastic thing which each side fits into. Pull cover up, but if it is the passenger one with the pocket on the back you need to snip the "holders" for the pockets inside the seat.
The new cable was a bit of a swine to fit and route.

I am sure I read on one of the Forums that Peddars Way either has a full or voluntary TRO on it at the moment.
-
Shall we just say that he is being watched by lots of official type people.
-
No telephone contact available, as he doesn't have one.
Full of prats on quads and bikes.
-
That is called the Td4 engine.
I suggest you get a Haynes manual and then no problem.

Don't know about HBH but generally Stratstones do not have a good reputation.
As above, I would have a chat with LR direct, which is what the dealers should have done anyway with that number of repeat faults.
