  1. Thats right, I have a D2 TD5 2001, and it dosent have the difflock nosecone on the transfer box, however it can be retro fitted. Ashcroft have the stick and cable on their website at 245 pounds, and you can fit a nosecone from a trashed transfer box, or again Ashcroft have new parts. Good luck
  2. If only!!!!!!! the Disco 2 bump stops hook intoo the chasis one end and bolt the other, I dont know why they didnt stick to the original set up.
  3. Help Help! Does anyone know, do extended bump stops exit in the Uk for the D2? I have seen some at Saafrigauard, but they are all the way over in the west coast of America and would work out very pricy!. Its one of the last things I need to finish the Disco and I am off to morocco iat the end of october. Please any suggestions.
  4. Hi I have a 2001 td5 pre facelift and I have fitted HID units and they work great, Challenger 4x4 have good deals on them. very reasonable.
  5. Sorry your wrong about ZU rims being inferior They are tuv rated to 1400kgs and I have them on my D2 which has been well tested in the desert. Just my opinion.
  6. I have a Jeremy fearn ecu and intercooler upgrade on my diso 2, its a 2001, and the kit has been on since 2003, it runs as sweet as a nut, but most of the power increase comes in the mid range, I am just about to replace the centre box with a straight pipe, which hopfuly will let the turbo spool quicker for a bit more out of the blocks power, can anyone confirm that?
  7. Yes, In a word. I have the jeramy fearn chip and uprated intercooler in my TD5 and the mid range improvment is great, you can replace the centre silencer box, for more low down grunt.
  8. 255/65/16 no probs on your 300 tdi as the the overal height is only 29.05 inches which is about what the arches will take, and the 255 width, is standard on the disco 2.
  9. Basically, tou get what you pay for, tough back are no comparison to Ralph tough dog shocks, the price should tell you that, it is worth spending more money initially, then you wont have to keep replacing shocks, if your doing a bit of greenlaining or mild off roading, there fine, but get them on a bit of fast moving desert terrain, and they don't last long!
  10. I have put a 3.9 V8 in to my 1989 DEFENDER which started out life as a 2 1/4 petrol, it isnt that hard, if you have basic mech skills, My conversion is with an auto box, all straight out of a RR classic, which involves cutting off the old engine mounts from the RR chasis, and welding in to the defender further forward. It can be done using the original mountings if your staying with the manual set up, by using a simple milner conversion plate, and slight mods to the passenger footwell, as this option puts the engine right at the back of the engine bay. If i can help with any tech info just ask. Goodluck.
  11. If you want to buy a set of springs that will last, and you need a 2 inch lift, buy King springs, they are from outback, and challenger 4x4 are distributors, yes they are expensive! but you will only fit them once, its a false economy to use the cheaper Britpart or Bearmach springs. I have used springs from all of the usual suspects, and none of them come close to the performance of the King springs. Goodluck.
  12. Auto is defo the way to go, for serious off road and desert use, I converted my V8 90 from manual to auto and runs so much better on sand, also on very steep sticky hills, missing a gear can be disaterous.
  13. The parts that you will need to do the air spring conversion are: ANR2938 x2 spring isolator RYG101360 x4 Bolts ANR 3578 x2 Seats You can add springs of your choice or, all round change for a lift. I am currently converting a Td5 for overland trips.
