Check you have the right spigot bush for you gearbox. I know diesel lt77 (disco) is a different size to the v8.

They look like the military version as they don't have the connections for the interior handle (early 110) they have just a lift up handle instead.

Check your hazard switch if i remember correctly they all go through it and it can fail.

It doesn't have to be land rover in this section so I say post away I'm interested if no one else is.

I know that the early range rovers had waterproof wipe down seats. Maybe the poverty spec came with rubber mats but I suspect most people ordered the carpet option. That said the discovery rubber mats (on top of the carpet) were designed so mud stayed on them hence the raised lip all around that way you could lift them out hose and them down.

My 100inch tomcat was 1800kg so as a guess I would say a 110sw is going to be around 2000kg in running form. I remember a figure of 2025kg being banded around but have never weighed one.

Paint them properly then find someone that's really good with an air bush (custom car/bike painter) though I doubt it will be cheap.

I'll start it with the strata Florida (off road) in Wales. The best off road I've driven in the uk.
As for road probably the hard Knott pass (lake district).

He did say something about B&Q for the paint match!!
Just had the estimate back £1350ish which I thought wasn't bad for a wing, bumper and paint.

That's what we're planning on but they needed an estimate to work with. I've now found somewhere and waiting for them to come back with a price so I can pass it on to insurance.

It's a tomcat fibreglass bonnet the same as I had on mine. Though why you would put one on a 90 is beyond me.

The wife had a little bump in the 110 tonight so I now need to get an estimate for repairs. Of coarse this is tricky as I normally repair everything myself. So I need a garage to give me an estimate but I'm unlikely to use them as I've already pulled it all out. Anyone got any ideas where I can go.

Could you fit a vacuum tank from the coupled brakes system. I've got one on the 110 it certainly holds vacuum for a long time.

You would get defender through IVA so you could do low volume/kit built. No different to ibex etc.

The clutch doesn't normally have a servo but it should bleed up even if it does and it's knackered. Crack each joint one at a time starting at the master pumping each time if you get fluid move on if not there's your problem.

Get a jump lead and connect it to the battery neg and to the engine and start it. If it starts better then you neg lead needs looking at. Do the same to the chassis to check that one. On 45 the neg goes from the battery to the chassis then on to the transfer box. The 110 only had one to the chassis so I added one to the transfer box.

Space to add stuff and power points 12v/usb. Spring to mind.

Front axle, all the suspension components and anything under the bonnet that looks useful.

My dad has a tool that is a steel tube with uprights on either end wider than the truck and high enough to reach the center of the wheel. At one end you have a fixed pointer that points inwards to touch the rim. At the other end you have an adjustable pointer. Set up in position on one side then drop the fixed pointer into the wheel giving you enough length to clear the tyre on the otherside thus you can remove without altering it. Do the reverse to get it on the otherside of the wheel and adjust as necessary.

I know it's missing the point but why not sell the 88 and buy a 90 and fit the engine to that instant drive train upgrade.

Some pictures of ours for you perusal:
Water tank, pump and batterys under the canisters
I know ours is bigger but might give you some ideas a water tank up front is also a good idea as it helps load the draw bar to make it tow better. You don't need to go as far as a pump but a tap stuck out the side/front of the trailer would be useful. Ours is 30ltrs plenty for a long weekend.

I'd use either Ali or galv sheet instead of ply. Add a small battery and you can connect it to the car then the fridge can run in the trailer.

I think I would make new hinges/plates and longer internal bolts/plates that way you could attach your spacer to the hinge/plate it would look neater be stronger and not leave open holes.

Unless it's non land rover your looking for then beaulieu is good. But as said if it's land rover your after Newbury is the one but I don't think the dates will work for you.Newbury is by far the best. Last time I went to beaulieu it was tiny by comparison.

With the best will in the world you will never make a defender as quiet as a disco for two main reasons.
1, a disco body is rubber mounted the defender is solid.
2, the panels on a disco fit, are joined together properly and seam sealed.
Sorry but if you want a quiet truck buy something else.
I bought this:

For my ibex but haven't fitted it yet and the truck is no where near the road.
