  1. I don't know about hydraulics, but they do need to be autoreverse.

The yanks put a solenoid in the brake line, hooked up to the reversing lights.

I was looking at the back 1/2 of a 4x4 as a trailer, rather than use the tank for water, I was going to use it for fuel.

Here is a link to the US valves

  2. I've done a bit of off roading as well!

I had such a close escape - driving my first LR a SIII into an on-coming Rolls Royce within 500yards of buying it

I've driven a LandCruiser around LandCruiser mountain park

I've broken down in an Isuzu twice

Nothing else to prove as at 5'2" my dad isn't bigger than anyone elses dad :P

  3. Willwood also make master cylinders. I've got one of theirs on my Range Rover servo in MogLite.

MogLite needed a big master cylinder for the Unimog slave cylinders. I think mine is 1 1/8" so it moves a lot more fluid.

Willwood should be able to recommend a master cylinder size for your brakes.

  4. YTS hours about 2

    pugwash hours......about 9

it's not that hard- i'm just a complete f*ckwit. All you've got to is remove the a/c pump (4 bolts), loosen up 3 drive belts, undo 2 bolts for the Alternator, take it off and attach the new one. Not rocket science, but that lot took me 3 hours the other day and that was without putting the new one on.

Is the Jap stuff for you - my Isuzu is the same. Compared to a LR, the alternator costs twice the amount, lasts three times longer, but takes four times the time to fit !!!

With a basic toolkit, I reckon it would take the best part of a day to change my Isuzu 3.1TD altternator. Less with a good socket set and ratchet spanners, but a field repair would be a PITA.

  5. Wow - I can almost breath easy. Its taken a bunch of work to sort the booking out of an MOD site. But judging by the reactions it was worth the effort. There seemed to be a lot of happy 4x4'ers today.

I've never seen the Shires marshalls and committee work so hard (not that they are a lazy bunch - far from it). When we added up the numbers at the end of the day and found we had 116 paying trucks - the penny dropped - we had our biggest event to date :D

Thanks to all that drove for being very well behaved, it was only really the wet sand and water that caused us issues.

Lets hope we can do it again sometime soon.

  6. Hardcore got my attention...... :moglite:

But I feel a little short-changed, yes to machining, degreasing and black paint.

But as for hardcore, where is the turbo that doesn't fit in a wheelbarrow, and an exhaust so large it can confuse a chicken. Nitrous ? Propane ? 30 psi of boost going into an intercooler the size of a London flat ?

Nah - I call an EXTREME rebuild ;)

  7. When some sex addict puts "mounting" and "quickfist" into google, they are going to be so surprised to end up on an lr forum! ;)CheersSteve(Bored, sat on a train delayed by a points and signal failure in the Hitchin area!) ;)

    Note to self:

Use different usernames on different forms - might avoid being recognised :moglite:

  8. As you've not given us any clues

What model of Range Rover you have - they've been making them for almost 40 years - there are a few variants !!

    Or your intended use

    • Mild off road ?
    • Extreme off road ?
    • Rabbit hunting ?
    • Expedition ?
    • Show ?

    as just a few examples

I think I'm gonna suggest a full width grille as a starting point.

  9. I caught these on the Gadget Show

Basically its a 12V microwave, connect it to your cigarette lighter, or for better performance - straight to the battery.

According to the Gadget show, it works, but is slower than domestic microwave.

Sounds great for camping to me - about 200USD but I can't find anyone selling them in the UK

Here is a link to some info!

    Dear Santa.........
